hey guys

should i turn on vsync on games if my fps is below 60 ? ( my monitor is 60hz)

and if fps goes over 60 like 100 or more , the display will always tear ? how much is a chance that screen will tear if my fps is like 100 and can i notice it ?

Solution
If you are getting like 40 fps then definitely turn it off. It will increase you performance a lot and will not change any quality of the game ( it will look the same) vsync is short of vertical synchronization it basically removes the screen tearing on your monitor but that is almost not noticeable, so yea go ahead and turn it off

Gtx 770 sli
AND what ?? vsync will lower the fps ?? and you didn't answer my question , if i'm getting like 40 fps , should i turn it on or off

vsync prevented tearing, but you get input lag.

so if my fps even goes higher than 60 but i dont experience tearing then i should turn it off ?

Why not activate it and see it for yourself? It takes like 10 seconds to try it out jesus man it would have been quicker to just boot up a game, try it out, and see for yourself rather than post here.

Vsync smooths out the framerate if your FPS is higher than your monitor's refresh rate. It introduces mouse lag, which is dumb in fast paced games, but it negates screen tearing, which is dependent on the game as to how bad it is. But it also reduces framerate by a small margin.

It's personal preference, some people don't mind the mouse lag, others do. Other people don't mind screen tearing while others do as well. Go try it out, this isn't a "should I do it" question, it's personal preference.

yeah.
let it be off.
there is no need to turn it on.
