Question Should I upgrade from my gtx 1050 to an rx 570?

I have a two year old pc with a gtx 1050 and a pentium g4560 cpu with 8gb of ram on a MSI B250M pro-VD LGA1151 mobo. I am wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to the rx 570 or something else but im worried about bottle necking. I know my cpu is a limiting factor but im looking to boost my fps to the maximum my computer can do with out overpowering the cpu. Any tips are appreciated.

I can tell you right now the limiting factor will be that CPU with anything larger. I personally wouldn't buy a RX 570 unless you can get a really good deal on a used one since the RX line is a very old card design. The new GTX 1650 Super and GTX 1660 Super are absolutely beast entry cards that blow everything older out of the water at this point. But again your CPU is going to be a limiting factor. I would look for a used 6th or 7th gen i5 or i7 (You may want to update your BIOS before installing a new CPU just in case)

Thats what I was afraid of, I think ill prob get a new cpu and check out a card from the 16 series you mentioned. Thanks

The reason for the upgrade is I want to be able to play rdr2 on decent settings, with a new cpu do you think the 1650 super would be up to the task?

I was not able to play rdr2 on 1050ti
then I sold it for a used rx570 with nearly the same price
ez double fps and high mid setting

You can get a GTX 1650 Super for about $150-$180, it'll give you comparable performance to the RX 580 with a lower power draw than the RX 570. Based off that, you should then focus on that pentium CPU.

The only CPUs I'd suggest for that would be the i7-6700k and i7-7700k for that specific motherboard, but they can be very expensive new [$300] (oh yeah and BIOS update and stuff). Try to find them either used or get a new B360 motherboard with a $200 i5-9600k (or a 9400f for $50 less, unless you want to overclock). Your choice as to how much pain you want to go through, and whether you feel that you need to future-proof your system.

I wouldn't bother with a K processor on a B board since you cant overclock . A 6700 or 7700 would do just fine and should be alittle cheaper.

I would try a site like craigslist or Facebook Marketplace because you can try and talk down the priuce of the CPUs. A new i5-9500F 150$ CPU is comparable in performance to a i7 7700k, so if anything try a and sells it for higher they are vastly overvaluing their CPU, which sadly is common. Add in Ryzen to the mix in reality a 6700 or 7700 should realistic be maybe 100-125 USD at most used.

As suggested above you could also save up for a new mobo+CPU combo, I wouldn't bother with a K chip unless you plan on overclocking and as I said the Intel 9500F is about 150 and a Ryzen 3600 is anywhere from 160 to 200 depending on sales.
