Hi guys it's been a while since i builded my own pc, almost 5 years , and now i've been wondering if i need to buy a new cpu .
My specs are

MB : Gigabyte Ultra durable series ,GA-H77-D3H
Gpu : Gtx nvidea 970
Ram : 16 gb
Cpu : Intel core i5 2500 3.30 - 3.70 GHz

I only play videogames on this pc , and i usually try to max out or keep high settings
What do you guys think?

Solution
well thats a much better GPU! and the choice is simpler

you could go with Skylake (2nd newest generation of CPU)

Or you could go with the newest one, but you will need windows 10 with this chip. Also, you are able to use...
Depends on the games you play and if you are unhappy with performance of your system.

As well as if you have a budget for an upgrade.

I know you have an older system and an upgrade is sounding good, but if you play older games/online MMO, then the usefulness of the upgrade is just not there

Or you could go with the newest one, but you will need windows 10 with this chip. Also, you are able to use H110/B150/H170/Z170 chipset motherboard with Kaby Lake, but I think they require a Bios update (need to confirm this, but that's what the news was a couple of months ago). So in selection I just put a b250 chipset motherboard to be sure it works. You could look up some info on using older chipset
