Question Should I Upgrade My CPU As Well?

I recently upgraded my GTX 970 to RTX 2080 ti and still am using my 4 year old i5-6600k; I mostly game. Should I upgrade to the i7-9700k? I game at 2560x1440.

Try using your current CPU first and see if you run into any issues, which you really shouldn't.

I hope you realize upgrading to the 9700K requires a new motherboard as well.

Really? According to Amazon, 9700k uses the LGA1151 like the 6600k.

Same socket, different architecture and chipset.

You 100% need a H370 or Z370 motherboard to use a 9700K - you CANNOT use your current motherboard.

Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website to confirm compatibility for yourself.
