while i know we haven't seen the cards live performance from what i've heard it is between a 390 and a 390x so if i can sell my 380 for the retail price of the rx480 i thougt it as a cost free upgrade

As a "free" upgrade (presumably for 4GB 480?) all you really gain, besides better architecture, is a lower power draw. At least until you add a second 480. I'd wait for reviews first,

I just sold my 2 sapphire nitro r9 380. They pulled similar numbers to a Gtx 980 and a lot times better but minimal frame rate and shadow of mordor was enough to make me dump em on eBay. Also the stuttering on dying light sucked . At 1080 p the r9 380 alone keeps you 60 fps in all but the newer games where turning down eye candy gets you back up but dang that's why I game on a pc and not a crapbox or a turdstation i wanna see witcher 3 and mordor in all its glory! Long answer in short I'd sell the r9 380 back to the store because the rx 480 sounds like the 1080 king so far and I've no doubt benchmarks on the 29th will say the same cause amd has too much riding to float another air biscuit
