Question Should I wait for 5090/5080 or buy 4090/4080 having this setup?

Hello,

I know that we are still not 100% sure what parameters 5090/5080 will have, but still, my main concern is if any of my current PC's components would ewentually bootleneck the efficiency of 5090/5080. I guess I'm already prepared for a need to change the Power Supply for 5090/5080, but I'm not keen on buying the new processor or motherboard just for this upgrade.

So the main question is - Should I keep waiting for 5090/5080 release or buy 4090/4080 now having this setup and wanting to stay with it?

This is my current setup:

Motherboard - ASUS TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS DDR4
Processor- Intel Core i7-12700KF
Graphics - MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GAMING X TRIO LHR 8GB GDDR6X
Memory - Patriot 32GB (4x8GB) 4400MHz CL19 Viper Steel
Power Supply - Corsair RM 850W 80 Plus Gold
Cooling - be quiet! Pure Loop 360mm 3x120mm
SSD1 - Samsung 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe 980
SSD2 - Samsung 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe 980
SSD3 - WD 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Blue SN550
OS - Microsoft Windows 11 Home OEM DVD PL

Fair question overall: however, the concern(s) need to be quantified.

What are the currently observed performance parameters?

What are or will be your future performance requirements?

Budget?

Howl long are you willing to wait or perhaps even "must wait"?

Are you familar with the performance related tools likely already installed on your system: Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free)?

You may need to download Process Explorer:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

Overall point being that you need to identify or establish what will be deemed as a success with respect to the potential upgrade and performance improvements.

And determine if there may or may not already be some other existing "bottlenecks" affecting system performance.

Fix (if possible) those problems and the original question may become moot....

And your system will benefit accordingly.

Thank you for the reply will a valuable insight, appreciate it!

- What are or will be your future performance requirements? / What are the currently observed performance parameters?

I'm currently playing at 1440p (3440x1440) and I see that in some new highly demanding games (Throne and Liberty for example) I can't set all graphic options to the highest quality because I won't get silky smooth experience - meaning at least stable 60+ fps. I also use 2 1440p monitors at once, one for gaming and one for having some background stuff visible on (Spotify, Discord, Visual Code etc.).
So, to summarize the answer for this one - I would like to achieve at least stable 60+ fps playing the newest games on highest possible settings with 2 1440p (3440x1440) monitors.

- Budget?

About the budget - I would say I don't have any strict values here. I just don't want to buy a whole new PC with all new brand components, since this one barely has 3 years and I don't want it go to waste. I'm also not a big fan of trying to sell my old PC's because it is usually a big hustle to sell it for reasonable amount of money without problems.

- How long are you willing to wait or perhaps even "must wait"?
5090/5080 should be coming in next couple of months so I can wait for it no problem

- Are you familar with the performance related tools likely already installed on your system: Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free)?
Yes, I am, at least to Task Manager and Resource Monitor. Process Explorer I downloaded just now.
