Atm I'm going to buy a r7 2700, but I am wandering if I should wait and buy a r7 3700 because the 3700x is supposed (don't know for sure) to hit th 5ghz mark with 12 cores, since the 2700 is £200 rn witch is a pretty good deal, I'm gonna be doing alot of gaming and video editing and photoshopping. Have a nvidia 2070 and a terrible a8 7650k amd apu (5 years old budget cpu) and 8gb ddr3 with a a68hm plus mbd. Then looking for a Ryzen 2700/3700/3600 msi b450 carbon AC and hyper x predator 16gb 3333mhz ram, then a H100i or if it fits a noctua Nd15.the H100i 240mm is £75,the ram is £85,the mbd is £108
Thx in advance

As usual for "should I upgrade now" threads, if you are still happy with whatever you have and are mainly just looking to scratch an upgrade itch, then wait. If waiting is eating into your sanity (like it was with me back when I was doing stuff that required over 16GB of RAM on my Core2 which was maxed out at 8GB), then upgrade now - you may regret not getting the latest and greatest but it is a relatively modest price to pay for your sanity.

Personally, I am a little pessimistic about clock frequencies: AMD added complexity to the die that will eat into timing closure margins, which means smaller clock gains than what would be achievable with a pure shrink. I'm not expecting more than 300MHz typical all-cores overclocks compared to...

Man it's so tempting to just cop a r7 2700, with a fully upgraded bundle only 500 without cooler, I'm planning on a whole reshape of my pc and am also gonna get a coolermaster h500p. My pc case won't have enough airflow

^ yes it is.
I will say I like your MB choice a LOT.
If I didn't get my ROG Strix B450-F for $90 on sale I was seriously considering the MSI Carbon Pro or MSI Tomahawk.

I put my current rig together for just over $400 in November 2018.
That was with MB, CPU, 3200 MHz RGB Ram, Arctic 33 Esports cooler and a 750W PSU.
I did later upgrade my GTX 1060 to an MSI GTX 1660 Ti though, but after selling my 1060 it cost me less than $200 for the 1660 Ti.

I was gonna go with tomahawk, but it is £10 cheaper and I thought there was no point, and also Inbuilt WiFi is always better then an adapter but I was thinking of having an ether net cable to ensure no random dropouts

If you can find an Asus crosshair 6 hero in that price range that is the best board you can buy for the money. Bios updates give it all relevant x470 features and it is confirmed to support Ryzen 3000.

I personally advice against getting stuff immediately after getting a few janky step 1 items myself... Wait until they've worked out bugs. That's just personal experience though. I don't blame folks for not waiting.

Basically just ask how badly you need the latest and greatest over the current gen stuff. What money you save can go towards stuff you'll want as extras later.

I'm not expecting more than 300MHz typical all-cores overclocks compared to Zen+, which means 4.5-4.6GHz. If the alleged 10-15% IPC gains are relative to Zen+ instead of Zen, this is still great news as it brings AMD solidly on par with Intel on most of AMD's worst-cases.

Ye for me I'm slightly dying 8gb ram and 2 core 4 thread I can play csgo but it sometimes freezes but I can match my monitors speed so I can prob wait also a crosshair 6 is minimum £200 and I will need a WiFi adapter, if I found one on sale I would buy it but they all need a bios update. Actually it would be a perfect mbd because it actually does have WiFi inbuilt

I am sitting in the waiting seats myself; currently nursing a 7 year old 3770 non K. Try to play FO76, but it crashes fairly regularly (the box says the min cpu is 4700). Hopefully, some of the 'specs' being leaked are close to real....

they will be to compete against intels new proccesors, new 9th gen core i5 better then 2600x but much more expensive, so value for money AMD wont let us down!!
