Should my laptop be able to run this or is it broken? Acer Aspire F15 (F5-572G-56NQ)

Hi to all reading this.
I am not a big fan of laptops, nevertheless, I am currently studying abroad so I had to buy one. I wanted something not too expensive but also something what would be able to run some newer games, let's say, at medium settings and older games at ultra. Therefore I went for Acer Aspire F15 (F5-572G-56NQ) with i5-6200U 2.3GHz with Turbo Boost to 2.8GHz, NVidia GeForce 940M 2GB and 8GB DDR3 RAM. I thought it should be able to do what I wanted it to do as mentioned above, however, I was unpleasantly surprised. Sometimes it has trouble with Star Wars The Old Republic (MMO from 2011) on max setting, especially in crowded areas, I was unable to run Europa Universalis 4 - the fps was simply unbearable and finally, yesterday I bought Skyrim Special Edition and I am having trouble to run it on medium. The question is, is my laptop simply ----- and if so what do you think I could run on it and on what settings, or is it broken (something with the graphic card or processor) and I should not be having this kind of issues with my specifications? The i5-6200U is your point of failure. The U stands for "Ultra-low power", which is achieved generally by downclocking the CPU. While the 940m is pretty good, and 8GB RAM ain't bad, that underpowered CPU is what's killing you. You can't overclock it, and with a max turbo of 2.8 I'm not surprised by your description of gaming with it in crowded areas (cpu intensive).

It can not play games well because it is not a gaming laptop.

The CPUs with a U at the end mean they are low powered laptops models and also means that i3, i5, and i7 are ALL dual core CPUs wiht 4 threads. The i5 and i7 just have turbo boost with faster max clock speeds.
The 940m GPU is a just good enough to play on low GPU.

To play games you will need medium or low settings (dependong on game).

Thank you for your reply. As I said, I am no fan of laptops, so I have to ask how hard is it to replace the CPU for laptop? Much harder than for PC I imagine. Or is it even possible to just upgrade parts in laptop as in PC? Thx for any help.

Well as I said, I was aiming mainly for older games such as SWTOR or Skyrim and medium settings. I am not trying to run Witcher 3 on ultra. Thanks for the info though, I really appreciate it.

Much harder. I've been searching for a list of compatible processors and I've yet to find anything. Even if you found one, they're much more delicate and depending on the manufacturer, sometimes are soldered into the motherboard. It would be a lot of work and risk, if you're able to find something compatible and better. Happy to help!

Secondly, on the offbeat chance that your CPU could be removed it could only be replaced with a U serries and not an HQ serries thus going to an i7U would not give you more then a few mhz faster clock and at best 5-9% performance increase.
