Silencing the metal workshop

I have a pc I built a couple of years ago and I figure it still has enough power to do the work I need to do. But after I moved into a smaller room, the noise became extremely noticeable. So I want to do some modifications to it.

The motherboard is an Asus A7M266-D with 2 x AMD Athlon MP 1800+ and 1 GB RAM. The case is a Chieftec Miditower.

I will replace the powersupply with one that is more silent. But I need some recommendations to what I should do with the CPU's. I hope there are some experts here that can recommend a good and relatively silent solution based on the cpu and space available. I will not go for watercooling or any other extreme solution. I am not looking for an overclocking solution either. Just to make it more silent...

The rest I think is well catered for.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

See if there is an acoustipack like this for your case or buy the material and cut it for your case. Might even be able to get the materials at Lowes.

You can also try replacing the fans on the HSF for the processors with good Panaflo fans - just pay attention to CFM and dB. If that is not feasible, then you could look at replacing the HSFs, but that may be more than you want to spend.

Does the chipset have a fan on it? GPU? These are notorious noisemakers, that you might be ale to replace with a fanless heatsink.
