Simple video conversion

Yeah, I don't want to fiddle with settings for hours upon hours, it doesn't need to look extremely professional but it does need to look decent

I'm not going to edit the video at all just want to convert it from Fraps avi conversion methods to something else, say MKV or something... id rather not use divx, I don't particularly like them...

I've tried using virtual dub but I don't know how to get other codecs installed lol

You could try Arcsoft Media Converter 7 or Cyberlink MediaEspresso. They both support AMD/Nvidia GPU acceleration to make it quicker too, as well as Intel QuickSync if you have the necessary hardware for that.

I saw some youtube videos on those 2 programs, they don't seem to support custom bitrates etc whilst converting? I haven't downloaded em to check but it seems they don't.

U can use HandBrake to convert .mkv videos to smaller size. http://handbrake.fr/ the free and best quality encoding machine : )

Set it to 150MB for every 10 min. 1500MB for 100min and so on...

Of course u can experiment, the quality is subjective and personal.
