Single profile takes long time to boot - other profiles start right away

Hi All,

Using Win 7 Pro - 64 bit. 16GB of Ram installed.

This past Friday my work computer was fine. Started it up, entered my username/password (domain log in) and my computer loaded the desktop within 30 secs.

Was off yesterday, come in this morning and my computer takes about 5-7 minutes after I enter my username and password to get to my desktop. After I enter my log in infomation, the screen goes black and all i can see is my mouse cursor (which I can move) until my profile loads.

The kicker is I tried another person's log in (for the domain) along with a local user account (for the machine) and both load within 30 secs.

The problem seems to be my particular profile but why? I'd rather not delete it and start from scratch because I have it customized exactly how I want it.

I should note a colleague has this exact same problem starting this morning as well.
I tried a system restore to last Thursday to see if it'd fix the problem but didn't.
I also tried changing my desktop background (theme) to the basic windows 7 background and that also didn't change anything.

Any thoughts would be appreciated...thank you!

Josh

I have 9 things in startup...I'm one who doesn't like a lot of things loading up unless I want something running.

I have:

-Microsfot Security Client
-Adobe Updater
-(2) Power DVD which I will try to disable and see if that helps
-Office 2010
-Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager
-SMax4PNP Application
-AcroTray - Adobe Acrobat Distiller helper
-Adobe CS4 Service manager

Thing is other than CS4 all others have these same startups and now 5/25 PCs are having this issue.

Figured it out -

We have external network hard drives and our IT department must have patched something on our network becaus we can't connect to them now.

The problem with that is Win 7 seems to have a more strict with "Reconnect on Login" than XP was because my profile lags to boot on my 7 machine but another colleague still has Win XP and altho he can't connect to these drives either, his profile loads just as fast as before.

So I disconnected the two mapped drives that couldnt connect and i signed in within 10 secs after i entered my creditials. I will need to work with my IT department to figure out what's up with those IP addresses but I appreciate anyone who spent some time thinking about this for me.

Have a good one!
