Problem if a computer does this, is that if something goes wrong (like a wrong line of a code is given) the nvidia will happily crash the plane with 300 ppl on board. A human will normally just do this if his wife left him or something like that...

[citation][nom]scannall[/nom]This is a solution looking for a problem. Commercial aircraft have had this ability for quite some time now. It is neat though, in that it is an example of just how far technology has come in a relatively short period of time.[/citation]
Most commercial airplanes except the latest and greatest Boeings have digital/alphanumeric displays (plenty of them, some with red/green/flashing led above them). That makes simply glancing at them NOT AN EASY task especially in a small emergency situation. Graphical display (large enough) makes it much much easier and accurate to glance at to determine the situation.
Last year I spend almost 2 weeks watch "Air Crash Investigations" on Youtube and concluded that about 50% of the crashes were caused by mulfunctions of equipment but pilots/co-pilots/flight engineer DID not really believe this!. Well. they did last minute which was too late!. So yeah, good CLEAR graphical displays calculated in realtime is important for a plane. Also, changing Colors or blinking fonts of readouts that had suspicious readings are also a good thing. This way at least the pilot knows something is not right and be able to find alternative readings/obtain data.
