Hey everyone,

My skyrim seems to be fairly laggy with mods and enb but with a decent PC.

When monitoring my PC during play the CPU seems to be running at about 50% and RAM also seems to be fine. However, my GPU Core clock and memory Clock is running at about 90%. Also my GPU Load in 99% when playing but only half of GPU Memory (4gb DDR5 RAM) is being used.

Any advice on where next to proceed to make the game smoother would be very helpful, thanks

Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 4gb GDDR5 = 16GB of RAM GDDR3= Intel Core i7-4770 - 3.40GH = 1TB Hard drive x3.

The base Skyrim engine is 32bit and as such the game can't use more than 4GB of RAM. The new Skyrim remaster finally updated the engine to 64bit. Most of the existing mods don't work with the remaster though. I don't know if they eventually will or not but they're still working on the script extender for the new version of the game as far as I know.

I just played with about 50 mods including the Realvision ENB and my 6700K at 4.6Ghz and 980 Ti could barely maintain 60FPS at 1440p. It would dip into the lower 50s in places. So mostly there's nothing you can do about it other than play with the ENB settings.

So its not that my GPU is bottlenecking anything is it? Because Fallout 4 does the same thing. Also, were you playing with the original Skyrim or the remaster?

Original. As far as I know the script extender isn't ready for Fallout 4 and the Skyrim remaster. The remaster uses the Fallout 4 engine.

No your card is fine. It's just a terrible engine. It's amazing mods work as well as they do.

My confusion arises when I see people on youtube uses similar or the same pc specs yet they are getting 60fps constantly with hundreds of mods and an ENB. Also, would you consider it bad they my GPU load and memory/core clock are reaching 90-100%?

The same mods? Even load order can affect mods. Are all your mods 100% compatible? You using LOOT? Unofficial patches? SkyUI? There are tons of variables. Have you tried playing with the ENB settings?

Yes I've used everything You've said. Are there any ENB setting you would reccomend changing.

Also, are you basically saying that even with a good rig, you general will no achieve amazing fps as Skyrim's engine cannot handle it?

I was disappointed in the consistency of the frame rates when I played last. The drops down to the 40s or 50s and the stuttering in certain outside areas was very annoying. Not game breaking but annoying.

I used a youtube 'how to' video to install the Realvision ENB and it included setting tweaks. I'd suggest looking for the same for whatever ENB you are using.

One thing about Skyrim is it can't go over 60FPS or it breaks the physics engine. So you have to use or force VSync.

Ill have a look at some videos like you suggested. By as I mentioned, is it unrealistic to think you'll get 60fps with mods and enb even with a amazing computer because of skyrim's bad engine?

Yeah the engine is very limiting. If the modding community gets excited about the Special Edition then it will be much easier to take advantage of high end hardware.

Now I don't doubt there are people running many mods that are getting a solid 60. It took me three complete uninstall and reinstalls before I was happy last time and I still got those 20FPS dips in places. I think experimentation with the ENB and maybe the mod selection is your best bet. I used Mod Organizer and found it easier than NMM.

I've been writing to a person on youtube and apparently my gpu is running at its max capacity and thats why im getting the drops (thats why my gpu load is 99%)
