Skyrim restart after launcher? Over and over

Ok so when i try to start skyrim, steam starts it up and whatnot then the launcher pops up, i click play, say yes to give windows permission to run it.... and then steam restarts the launcher and im back to options (click play, options, data files ,etc.). I've tried lowering sound settings, shadows, restarted my computer, nothing is working. I've logged over 50 hours in this game with no problems and now all of a sudden this is happening. The only thing that i have changed is i ran CHKDSK to fix an error i was getting with windows explorer, could that be my problem?

Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" is probably the most important thing you can do when a steam game starts to crash.. also make sure you set the properties of the game file to run with admin rites. dont set steam to run as admin though as that is a security issue.


but kudos to sport plus for getting it rite off the blocks.

Don't know if this will help anybody, but the thing that finally worked was updating the graphics card software. Not sure why that made a difference since it was no different than when it was working, but for some reason after it updated the game works again.

have you installed the latest patch? if so try removing it. if not try installing it.
also make sure your not infected.

I found this out, not sure why, it stops working but Navigate your .exe for Skyrim generally located in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim for 64bit systems
and/or
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim for 32bit systems

Look for TESV.exe
Right click on it click Properties and go to the Compatibility tab at the bottom it will say Privilege Level and under that a check box, make sure this is unchecked.
It worked fine for me

This was the fix for me. At one point I was trying to see if I could get the game to launch without an internet connection and forgot that I clicked on Run as Administrator. This apparently messes up the game launching, so don't do it. Thanks so much!

I have the same problem, and I've tried all of this, and nothing works. However I REALLY don't want to lose everything, as I've been playing this for about a year, with no problems, and have over 110 hours put in. I'm sad. Is there ANY other way?

i open skyrim using steam i press play but then it doesn`t play.
On my other laptop it plays but at the start (the horse ride part)
it goes like a cracked screen
yes this is a legit game (i bought it at gamestop)
