Skyrim stopping my fan?

I bought skyrim yesterday and it finished downloading today. I started it and there was no problems,no FPS problems, the graphics were all at high. 15-30 minutes later when i was walking thru the first dungeon my skyrim freezes and turns my cpu off. I try to launch it again and try to solve the problem myself. I noticed that when i am playing skyrim my fan stops making sounds and my cpu stops that little vibrating showing the fan is working, but maybe thats not the problem. My suspicions are that there is a problem in the power supply (maybe). The error also occurs in GTA IV but less frequently than skyrim.
(Sorry for my english)
If anyone helps me you have my eternal thanks! :)

PC Specs:
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 445 Processor

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

the fan would only decrease if the heat is reduced, which would mean that Skyrim is demanding less CPU usage, which is VERY unlikely.

I would still suspect something wrong with the fan. Maybe restart, go to BIOS and set the fans to full speed, save and exit, adn see if it does spin at full speed, you will notice immediately for its noise.

open your case and test again, confirm that the fan is stopping when this occurs. I would think that the fan is dying, if it stops, the CPU overheats almost instantly, and the MoBo will turn the computer off for protection.
