I have 2x geForce 8800 GTS 512mb GPUs on a nForce 780i SLI mobo. However, I have 4gb of Corsair 6400C5DHX memory. In the BIOS is tells me that this memory isn’t SLI ready. So, I have two questions:

First, how can you tell if SLI is running properly?

Second, I’ve heard that the memory doesn’t need to be SLI ready to run it, but how do I get it to work, and is there any performance degradation by not having SLI ready memory?

Thanks.
Gary K.

And I will be happy give a second opinion suporting what Maziar is saying, I have never heard of it, there may be a performance reason similar to having matched modules or something but Im guessing its just a marketing thing.
If anyone knows differant please share the knowledge

Marketing gimmick in my opinion...
Same with SLi-certified PSUs....
I have 2 8800GTXs in SLi and 4x1Gb Corsair PC6400 C4 DHX which isn't SLi certified, and nothing has exploded yet! :D

In the Nvidia control panel choose 'advanced view' at the top you should have 'file' 'edit' 'view' & '3d settings', click on 3d settings and then click 'show SLI visual indicators' this will bring up green bars on the left of the screen whenever Sli is used.

Gary . For the memory to run in SLi mode you only use 2 sticks. 4 sticks takes the SLi mode away. However if you run 2 sticks you lose the ability to change timing settings on your memory
case in point I can run 2 , OCZ 1066 sticks and 2 G-Skill 800 sticks with the FSB set to 1000. The timing was Cas 5,5,5,5,15. now being a wanting type i bought a pair of G-Skill PC2-9600 sticks Voltage 2.1 CAS and timing is 5,5,5,5,15. I installed the memory set the FSB at 1200 Non SLi disabled and unlinked. The system after running for about 10 minutes using the MS media player went blue screen. As did crysis and warhead. I went back to bios and set the timings to 5,5,5,5,15 rebooted and it now runs balls to the wall. My system is as follows. Antec 900 case, EVGA 780i Motherboard,Intel Q9650, 4 gig G-Skill PC2-9600 (2 sticks) SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite pro, Antec 850 watt power supply, EVGA GTX295 Vid card.
If you do not set the memory timing it will be very unstable
