OK Guys gtx 295 is great but that is not what I have so.....yeah
anyways i will be running several tests 3d mark vantage, 3dmark06 and pass mark scores. all will 1 gpu, 2 gpu, 8gb ram and 4 gb ram to give you an idea of whats going on. all results will be with stock 2.4ghz cpu and 3.0ghz since I cant seem to get windows to boot or stable any higher, and my set up doesn't like x8 multiplier which is idea for me to get 1:1..... while waiting for results heres what my system is at.

3.0ghx q6600 go rev b
fsb and ram unlinked
fsb - 1333
ram 800 actual is like 799.8
cpu core - 1.325
cpu fsb - 1.30
ram - 1.9
nforce spp - 1.40
ff200 - 1.2

anythoughts ram is 5-5-5-18 🙁 i know

anyways tom's member please check back soon for scores and detailed specs- thank you

ok after days of testing i finally figured out that indeed my cpu was bottlenecking my gpus.2 gtx 285's are too much for the q6600 at stock, even overclocked it could be a problem but 1 gtx 285 with a 3.0ghz is more than enough per evga tech's.So the real question was why is the q6600 at 3.0ghz with 2 stick of ram (4gb 800mhz) and 1 gtx 285 stock still bottlenecking....Then reason is because my ram is bottlenecking the cpu which is bottlenecking the gpu's if that makes sence. in other words.my fsb for the cpu to get 3.0ghz was 1333 with 1.325vcore unlinked from the ram. well the ram was still set at 800mhz. so the cpu is the rabbit here and the ram is the turtle.the ram cant keep up with the cpu so the cpu is bottlenecking.and because the cpu isn't running proper the gpus will not also.

I need expert quidence with overclocking my q6600 with evga 750i sli mainboard now. I will post this as a seperate issue in overclocking forum.if anyone can help thank you, other wise i will see you in the oc'ing forums.

oh boulard83 - these test result mean nothing if things arent running right sorry.

No, it's closer to a pair of GTX260s. The performance of a GTX295 doesn't even come close to the performance of two GTX275s.

As for SLi, if the OP has trouble with SLi on two cards, he won't cure his problems by getting SLi on one card.
I think his software/drivers are at fault. I had no problems with SLi, almost increasing my fps by 50% when I went from 1 9800GTX to two.

No advice is better than bad advice.

As said several times, GTX295 is SLi on a card. It will not help his SLi issues in the least.

Come on people this is insane get with the times and get a simple i7core on a x58 with 3gb of ram and 2x 9800GT's in SLI will run all games out at hightest everything including AAx16 in DX10 on windows 7 x64 all day long and I get 88FPS average in FarCry2 benchmark and even better in actual gameplay with everything maxed out and running on a 42" plazma HDTV with temps in the 40c's 24/7 so why would you want GTX's that run in the 70c's and heat up your house not to mention the amout of electric they use? and yes I own a GTX260 so I can back these facts up and yes my 2x9800GT's beat my GTX260 if you need to know and yes the 2 x9800GT's cost half of what I paid for my 1 GTX260! dont get me wrong if you have the room for those big GTX cards I recommend 1 but not for SLI just not enough room for cooling 2 of them not to mention the size and heat that a good enough PS will make!

@ itzamedave

I just took out my 2 9800GTX+ because GTA4 dont support SLI and few other games that i play. YES your right, a SLI of 9800gt can "rock tha house", but in the game that SUPPORT SLI. If the games DONT .... your owned and only have 1 GT ...

IM 100% happy with my GTX285 and never had ANY regret after this SWAP.

Im not telling SLI is bad .. or CF, but in some case, SLI or CF are just useless. Its all depanding on the games you play.

( My GTX285 BEAT my SLI GTX+ in all the game im playing, including 3Dmark06 )

I agree 100% I just havent found any games I own that dont run better than my single GTX so Im happy with the lower temps and increased performance of my SLI setup, but you do have a great point.

BEAT my ..................what

besides GTA4 sucks on PC , but anyways. and wow I was just looking at your rig stats and I dont know If I would have posted that 19619 3dmark06...ouch. I just thought it would have been more for what you got, not to brag but mine was over 21000 and I didnt think that was that good considering my e8500/GTX260 scored over 18000

I missed this thread originally, but while I usually like eVGA, this is a perfect example of their 'support' being worthless sometimes.

WTF does physX or physics have to do with Far Cry 2 or Crysis Warhead? Neither title uses PhysX so it's totally unrelated to what you're experiencing.

Doesn't help you with your problem, but wanted to make sure people understood that that chunk of advice from eVGA is just someone mis-reading their CSR scripts. [:thegreatgrapeape:5]

For your information, if you go into 3dmark06 search engine and search for ALL the single GTX285 result, you can see that my score @ 4.08ghz is RIGHT in the spot with ~21000. And my 3.74ghz score is also STRAIGHT where its supposed to be with near 20k.

You dislike for GTA4 is your choice. GTA4 run like a charm with my Quad+GTX285 @ 1680x1050 and everything on V-HIGH and very high view distance and others.

Nvidia3569,

If you are running Windows Vista 64-bit, for the best experience, I would recommend 4GB of ram as that's one of the main reasons users install a 64-bit OS.

Also, if you enjoy Windows Vista and the performance you receive from such, I would recommend trying out Windows 7 -- the next step in the operating system world and future of technology. Microsoft does have a site with whitepapers, tutorials, walkthroughs and screen casts on all the “under the hood” features in Win 7. Check out the Springboard site for Windows 7 on TechNet here http://tinyurl.com/832nco
