Hey. folks

It is so that I sit with a
- Gigabyte GA - Z68MA - D2H -B3 ( v.1.3 ) with SLI support ( 8x / 8x)

http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3855#ov

- 2 x GTX 780 ( ZOTAC OC + EVGA SC ACX 2.0)

http://www.evga.com/Products/Specs/GPU.aspx?pn=C811FD6B-7E4F-4C02-9839-9C581D7B338C

The problem folks are:
when I insert Zotac cards into the x16 lane and EVGA card into the the X8, the computer finds them properly and SLI can be enabled however every time when a game or a 3D application tries to run in SLI mode the screens blackens this also happened when I tried to turn on 3D marks , but Here's the strange thing that puzzles me:
if I change places between them the computer can not longer find the card in the x8 lane, and SLI of course cannot be enabled. And this I really cannot comprehend, what the dilemma is? Would really appreciate if you give advice or tips for this.

Remaining . specs . if needed

That was the first thing I tried, Didn't help, same issue was still present!

Yeah, of course I got the latest drivers even tried beta drivers, still no succes.
I was thinking that perhaps the x8-lane is malfunctioned or?
I have even tested the gpu:s individually, to check weather it was the cards, and both of them was working perfectly.

if you put the cards in 1 order and both cards read then it's not the PCI lane.

I have found a thread who stated the same problem as you are facing now. He said he did a clean install of Windows, installed chipset drivers, rebooted and then installed nvidia drivers and it got fixed. here is the link http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1598000 i would suggest you to get an external hard drive and put what ever you need in there and re install windows.

Reinstalled vanilla windows 8.1, followed the steps from the forum as you suggested and enabled SLI and tried to run the 3d marks, I still got the black screen and got this also, Any suggestions what this might be?

you know i think it's a bio issue you are getting. and it's really odd how you are switching to x8 mode in your bios and it's not reading your cards. If i where you i would also call Gigabyte and talk to tech support and tell them about this issue and they might just help you fix it over the phone. or you might have a defective motherboard and they will ask you to RMA it if they can not help you over the phone.
