I have slipstreamed my WindowsXP SP2 with Adaptec SCSI Raid drivers but
during initial Windows install the install process complains that there is
no valid drive to install on. If I leave the driver for the RAID on a floppy
drive during the initial boot then the process continuous correctly.
Shouldn't the slipstreamed driver be available during the initial load? I am
trying to avoid using floppy drives.

third party scsi/raid controller drivers need to be accessed in win xp
install using f6 and accessed from a floppy drive. the installer itself looks
there for scsi drivers that the installer doesn't have included in it's
generic drivers. slipstreaming will replace updated os components in win xp
itself however the installer is the installer and can only look on floppy for
third party drivers to load. adding them onto the installation media for win
xp won't help as the installer won't look there for third party drivers only
on external floppy media.

it's a bummer but was neccesary from microsoft's side to protect the os from
oem's dropping in their own drivers that may not be compatible on remade cd's
by oem's. the installer does a lot of background checking on itself to
prevent piracy and extra software drop in's from others (not that it can't be
virused inside an .iso using isobuster and then burned, but it kinda defeats
the general idea of bad software add in's from oem's)

You can also take a look around at http://www.msfn.org/unattended for
more info on slipstreaming drivers/software/etc into your XP Install CD.
They even have a nice little program that can do it all for you 😉
