Hi,
I am thinking of building pc for the first time.
What cpu type should I get Slot A or Socket A ? Also what are Slot 1 and Socket 1?
Thank you very much.

Not that I'm trying to blow you off but just for your own sake you should do a great deal of reading before putting a system together if you are asking these questions. Slot1 and socket1 are for older Intel processors. As for AMD processors go with socket A. Slot A isn't supported by many motherboards and the L2 cache is a lot slower. But by all means before putting a system together read as many of Tom's old articles as possible and browse other people's posts and read read read.

Do you want an Intel or AMD system? If you're going for Intel, go for an FCPGA processor and if you're going for AMD, get a Socket A processor.

But if you wanna go with the most bang for your buck, go with an AMD processor.. But the final decision is totally up to you...
