I've recently been on a testing spree to get my wireless network to fill the entire house with at least 20mbps in every room. In doing so I've moved my wireless router to a central location via powerline adapters which has increased the signal significantly!
However, only my 5ghz devices are getting fast steady speeds. My 2.4ghz devices are stumbling to 2-5mbps. Here's what I'm working with:
-Time Warner 50mbps (this is consistent and checked often)
-Cisco N900 (Dual band simultaneous N router) - I have the connections seperated
-TP link 300mbps powerline adapters
-3 2.4ghz devices / 2 5ghz devices
Using my android im standing next to the router and getting 20mbps SOLID on 5ghz and stumbling 2-5mpbs on 2.4ghz. Same with my VAIO Pro (5ghz vs 2.4ghz tested), and same weak connection on my 2.4ghz only PC (All N devices) with almost excellent connection
*Also small neighborhood so only a few 2.4ghz devices popping up (no congestion)
If router is connected to the modem directly all speeds are blazing fast, Not sure why using powerline adapters is hindering 2.4 performance only?
..Might just pick up that Asus 😛
