Slow webcam

I have a 2002 sony viao and i recently got a webcam but it runs in slow motion even when i'm not online w it, disconnects my calls within 20 seconds and then freezes up my computer. An error report said i have a problem w my graphics driver. Could this be the problem. Can anyone please help
