Hey!

Budget is 300€/350$

I looked around and seems that small laptops now are mostly hybrids, even though "just a laptop" would be fine. Regardless, I've came to two contenders that are sold around here:
- Lenovo IdeaPad D330-10IGM
- Lenovo Yoga 330-11IGM

Let me know if there are other models/brands I should consider. But I have a couple of question about these two:
  • Ideapad 's screen is detachable, does that mean the whole computer components are in the screen? Is the detachable screen/keyboard something durable?
  • Is the Yoga 180 body made of metal or is a shinny plastic? Is the 360º screen flip to become a tablet something durable?
Thanks for any help!

Many laptops these days are 2 in 1 but not all will let you detach the screen, though after 360° rotation you get the same experience anyway.

Yes, the parts must be inside the screen, otherwise there's no way a laptop would even boot. Same is the case with all in one desktops from dell, lenovo, apple, etc, but the big disadvantage is that they are not upgradable. Only RAM or HDD you can upgrade.

I can't say how durable is but manufacturers claim how many flips their laptops can survive.

The laptops you are looking at - both are low end and not great by any means. If possible, go for Microsoft Surface Go.

Lenovo might be your best bet.

I bought an AMD A6 powered notebook from HP years ago, on sale at Amazon for 256 dollars, but, it was a turd before I swapped in an SSD and doubled the RAM--both where inexpensive at the time, especially the RAM (30 bucks for an 8GB stick of Single Channel)

I think you can still find HP cheap, but you would have to supply an SSD and a RAM stick to replace the 4GB ones they ship with

since i upgraded it and did a Clean install it's a great little cheap workhorse.

Lenovo is a great brand, but also I would consider the Microsoft surface go, it's only 10 in., which is easy to fit in any backpack. It also packs in some good specs. The lower end model goes for around $399 which is a bit over your budget, but something to consider.

As you were wondering above, all of the parts are packed in to it's screen, and you can fully detach it from it's keyboard.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks guys! Laptop and budget is for a family member that prefered 11,6" to 10,1". So the Yoga is what was bought.

I did check the Surface Go in the store but the price was just way over budget.

Thanks!
