I just narrowed down my selection for a build I'm currently working on to the EXACT same two MBs you posted! LOL! A couple of weeks ago I built the P5B-VM (not the DO) and I tore it down an retured it for the P5B-VM DO I have sitting here now. I can tell you the BIOS is badly underdeveloped for P5B-VM and apparently the P5B-VM DO also. There is no lock for the PCI frequency in BIOS. I haven't set up the P5B-VM DO yet. The ASUS P5B-VM DO has 4 phase voltage regulators (as opppsed to the 8 phase on the 965P P5B-Deluxe).

I returned the P5B-VM (not the DO) because it just would not work well with my the 805-D I set it up with and the RAID function on that board is a joke. The P5B-VM DO has a great RAID controller onboard. The processor I used is a 533 mhz. FSB edition and I just culdn't get my RAM to cooperate so I returned it. The ASUS has no warning, but on the website manual for the Gigabyte 965Q board you are looking at, it clearly states in the onlne manual you must use an 800 mhz. FSB processor to achieve PC6400 800 mhz. speeds. The 965Q chipsets may also be more sensitve and require RAM that can run at 1.8 mhz., I'm not entirely certain of this. I am using rare PC6400 that has a 1.8 mhz. stability value. The Gigabyte board has an Award Bios and the ASUS has American Megatrends something to consider. HTH.
