[citation][nom]Matthias99[/nom]They could have the client read the MAC address of the local system's Ethernet card, and handle it that way. But it wouldn't be that hard to present a fake MAC address to the SC2 client locally. (e.g. an easy approach would be to run the game in a virtual machine environment.)[/citation]

Yeah wow I was too busy thinking internet protocol. Yeah they definitely could ban by mac if they read it with sc2.

Is someone that is adept enough to use hacks going to know how to fake their mac address? Definitely possible.

I guess Blizzard is going to have some explaining to do to their merchant account processor when all the charge backs from the bans start rolling in.

I got banned from a game once for foul language and then they refused to issue a refund. I mailed the disk back to the company and one phone call to my credit card company was all it took to get my money back and a ding on their merchant account.

The call went something like this.
I purchased software and the company I purchased it from rendered it unusable and refused a refund.
"Did you return the product?" Yes
"They did not issue a refund?" No
"Alright your account has been credited" Thank you

There is no such thing as no refunds.

How quaint. Although I'm sure the vagaries through out your "story" hold a little bit to its credibility (pun intended, aalll right!)
