cuz of their own 970 SC heatsink issue
such a old issue not worth to bring up anymore from like there first release nonreferance cards -- catch up to today [acx1 ]

you make like that one cards issue is all across the board of evga cards and it was resolved quick [acx2] and now there on a all new cooler all together called the shp acx2+

As much as I've roundly condemned Willful Wrongdoing, I'm finding it difficult to even get angry at nVidia about this one. It does indeed look more like a mistake than an attempt to dupe people; after all benchmarks would have immediately exposed any real issue. Yes, there are particular cases, and you can watch them on YouTube, but they are far from general. Is it a[nother] nVidia gimp? Absolutely. Was it nefarious? I don't think so.

like I tried to say way back in like nov. , oct. on how I felt these cards were rush out before they were really ready in order to make the x-mas rush and sales .. it seems theres all ways been some kinda issues with the 970 right from the get go -- these cards were hurried up'ed and slammed together and sold to you with out proper testing, QC and what ever and this is how things like that end up ... [opinion]

Be that as it may, shoddy work deserves criticism, but then this might be a classic case of the risks of being an early adopter and buying Product 1.0. Sloppy, unfortunate, and definitely injurious to nVidia's reputation, but it should be easy for most people to get over it and move on. In those few cases where it is a big deal, a refund shouldn't be all that difficult to obtain, and a different card selected.

ya, look at evga there on rev.3 with a few cards giga has a 1.0 and a 1.1 [just bios change is all I seen from that ] msi is still on there same card but you don't see it getting as bad a rap as the rest ..
and still like the coil whine thing I can understand a few cards reported with that as normal but you got to admit its dang near 3 out of 5 gtx970's with it should be more like 1 out of 10 or 20 at the most [???]

all this time has passed and they still cant figure it out and find a resolve ??

3 out of 5? Really? So how come I have two that have been running at full load 24/7 for the last two weeks and doing so in silence?

Coil whine is an entirely separate issue, and I'd suspect any or ALL of the board partners of skimping on component quality to cut costs as the likely cause of that one; I don't think you can lay that at the feet of nVidia at all.
I think there's a light at the end of this tunnel. It seems to me that more and more people are realizing about more and more things, that buying cheap may mean buying twice. We saw it with PSUs (very rarely is a chokemax suggested any more), almost all motherboards use all-solid caps (especially in the VRM area), and even HDD warranties seem to be getting longer again (although WD Black is still the only 5-year one).
People universally hate (and moan about) coil whine, so it will be addressed.

I guess you can say what ever you want on how your cards are seeing we are not there to witness any of it .. for all I know there screaming and you got your ear plugs in .. I mean dude if it was not so bad with the cards there would not be all the reports - reviews - threads - ect.. over it now would there ???

like I said I don't need to defend the card seeing I knew not to buy it from the get go.. and I just call it as I see it ..

Perhaps so, they were only £5 more than the bargain bucket MSI card (which only had one DVI) so it wasn't a hard choice. It does amuse me when I see some folk saying that they have never heard of this brand or that brand, not that this is one of those times and I don't know about you and how long you have been seeing Zotac cards around but I have seen them in these parts for quite a few years now so I thought I'd give them a go.

Isn't Zotac pretty much a sister company of Sapphire?

Also can anyone tell me if I should get rid of my 2 970s for a 980? I play at 1440p @ 96Hz so I'd like to be around 96fps at all times if possible. I play mostly WoW and DayZ/Arma 3. I do get AAA titles when they drop and like everything to be on Ultra. Games like SoM I get 100fps avg on the benchmark.

There is no mention of that on their bio page.

I wonder if these card company do know whats to be done about theses issues , but it contradicts with nivida agreements and cant cause it may incur penalty's from NVidia??

like with what said here ???

''So, they are not permitted by NVIDIA to include the feature. NVIDIA is the only entity that could “not permit” them from doing something on their own product

http://mygaming.co.za/news/hardware/55151-club3d-ditches-nvidia-due-to-restrictions.html

NVidia may have there hands tied in so many ways??? as in there way or no way

no telling whats in the contract agreement between them and restrictions

You are either totally stupid or really trolling hard now, give it up mate because it's just embarrassing.

Enjoy your disappointment. 😉

so any news on how this is all playing out? word is there are tons of people returning 970s in the EU, and the change.org petition is already well past 5k signatures so things are definitely not working on Nvidia's favor...

5000 signatures is nothing. I can't imagine how many of these got sold considering they sold out almost immediately after getting stocked everywhere for the first two months.

5k signatures is nowhere near enough, thats around 1.7million in total sales on the retail end, less as a manufacturer selling to distributors. Nvidia spends more on ads than that I am sure, so they probably dont care at all about the petition.

Only way to really get them to do something is for everyone to file BBB reports. If people weren't lazy and only signed that petition, things would get done and Nvidia would do anything customers wanted. If FIVE THOUSAND people filed BBB reports for the same thing, that would instantly make Nvidia, any retailer or whatever other company involved instantly bow to the customer, issue a mass recall, refunds, ectect

Better would be to contact the Securities and Exchange Commission, as they're an actual government authoritative oversight agency, filing a complaint with the Better Buisness Bureau won't really do anything.

Didn't somebody just say that Nvidia has said there will not be a patch for it, and the representative who claimed there would be such a patch wasn't speaking on behalf of the company?
