My system:

CPU: Core i7 920
Mobo: ASUS P6TD Deluxe
Ram: G.SKILL F3-12800C9 3x2GB (6GB)
PSU: Corsair Professional HX850
SSD: Intel X25-M 80GB Gen2
Videocard: XFX RADEON HD5870 1GB

My Windows rating:
Processor: 7.4
Memory: 7.4
Graphics: 6.0
Gaming Graphics: 6.0

Primary Hard Disk: 7.7

Overall: 6.0

I have the latest drivers installed from the ati/amd website.

Is anyone else getting results like this? With a similar system or not?

Not only does it have to be the same settings and 3D mark, it also has to be the same brand, as many times, what 1 brand shows for higher numbers, sometimes shows slower in games.
So, same brand/year etc, and then its till ballpark or just close
I hate bungholios, they truly dont give alot of info, as the cpu score shows, using Phusx as well

thanks for the responses guys.

I do plan on overclocking, but the last overclock i ever did was on an E4300 which (right now) appeared to be a hell of a lot more simple than overclocking a i7 920 lol.

Now i see all these BLCK frequencies, QPI this...DRAM that...core bus volt blah blah.

Seems like i got a lot of reading before i tackle that.

I'm running an X1950 XTX under Win7 and scoring 5.9 for graphics so this is definitely just an issue with Win7 not recognizing the HD 5870 properly.

I've got a 5870 as well. When I was running the 32 bit Win 7 preview with the AMD release candidate drivers I was getting 7.8 on my Windows Experience and around 19k for 3D Mark. I got 64 bit Win 7 professional and the 64 bit drivers and my score dropped to 6.0 on Windows Experience and around 15-16 for 3D Mark. I think the drivers for 64 bit are not as optimized/fleshed out as the 32 bit ones.

It is a lot simpler than it seems.

I have a very similar system and the exact same thing happend to me. My Hd 5870 was a 7.8 from day one. The I updated ATI latest driver, dated 11/17/09 and that's when it drop to 6.0 WTF!!!

My Rig
Core i5
Corsair Whch50 water cooler
Msi P55-GD65
4GB Ocz Ripjaws
Corsair 705 PSU
intel XM-25 80GB SSD
Sapphire HD5870
Antec 902 Case
Win7 64bit

After the 6.0 I did a complete reinstall of windows 7 and still got a 6.0 so it's gotta be the driver. But not sure. Gonna run 3dmark06 just be be sure.

Dude... it MEANS NOTHING!!! The only thing that matters is GAME PERFORMANCE! Compare that then come back here.

Yeah I've read alot of threads knocking WEI. Anyways 3DmarkVantage score Graphics score of 16142 and Cpu score of 16241. So overall I think it's pretty solid. I was thinking since the HD 5970 came out maybe Win7 curved the rating since that's the best card now as of yet but what do I know. Just a thought.

I have a 5750 and its getting 6.0, so i have to wonder if this is a MS/Nvidia making. Either way how are your games running mine run smooth and flawless, for Far Cry 2 and Batman: Ark.

Try some games and see what your Average FPS are, that is a better indication.

Nvidia please after the 8800gt i gave up on them, physx is nice but not worth it. :bounce:

e8400 : 6.5

8gb of dominator 1066ddr2: 6.8

5870: 7.4

intel 80g ssd g.2: 7.2

no reason why it should hit 6.0

maybe you are using a board with pcie 1.0?

maybe you need the latest drivers and bios for your mobo?

Are you using ample power?

The problem with the HD 5870's performance is because when Win 7 runs the test, it doesn't force the card out of it's relaxed timings. Open up ATI Overdrive and watch the timings, they will remain at 157 core and 300 mem instead of 850 and 1200.

When I ran the test on my 5870, I got a 6.0, when I check ati overdrive, I noticed the timings were at idle settings. I ran ATI tools to change the timings, which will not go to lower timings and scored a 7.8 or 7.9.

There is nothing wrong with the card or drivers, it's just a side effect of ATI's cool and energy efficient code.

I had the same problem with my 5870. Brand new fresh install of windows 7 64, and fresh 10.2 drivers. I ran WEI 2 times and got 6 both times.

Then I remembered reading about CCC setting making a difference because I was not happy with 6 after paying close to $400.

I opened CCC Advanced and slected Options->Pereferences-Restore Factory Defaults. Now I am at 7.8. Hope this helps.

Had the same problem at one point. what you have to do is make use you uninstall the last driver for the video card and restart the system and download the new driver 10.2 and it will change
