I think he was being sarcastic and laughing at Doug.

I believe it had a useless noise meter too.

Yes, played it and liked it much better than FarCry. FarCry was ok but
after reading all the hype I felt it wasn't as good as it was made out
to be. I was glad when it was over.

Haven't played Bloodlines but it better be a lot better than
Masquerade.

It's been done in flight combat sims.

It could be done in FPS, but I don't think it offers the visceral
thrills people are looking for. On the other hand, I would have though
that dying and not being able to get right back in would never be
popular, and the CS came along.

I don't really care what the excuse is the fact remains, duh. Furthermore,
the z-secs DO have animations for crouching they just can't figure out how
to crouch and shoot me simultaneously.

I don't think aymond was giving you an excuse. He was just saying that
that the AI is not at fault. The problem is that the monsters don't
have the coding to make use of their intelligence. In other words,
they've spotted you, but (as you point out) they don't know how to
crouch and shoot.

It's not an excuse - it's a more accurrate description of the bug.

If it's something like the Quake 2 animation, then that's a reactionary
animation rather than a crouch animation. (In this case, the reaction is
to shrink the hit-box rather than dodge.) I never really saw the purpose
of this except to be missed by a few projectiles, unless the weapon has a
fire cone greater than the crouch area (they usually don't.)

Duke3D and UT2003/4, on the other hand, have AI crouching. They might not
be the best implementation (for one reason or another), but the opponents
can crouch to either shoot in a duct or to make themselves slightly harder
to hit (e.g. long-range sniping).

What difficulty are you playing on? I never noticed this much.

In my games they don't live long enough to run out of ammo 😉.

This never happened to me as well. Do you play D3 as sneaker?

There is no sneaking in Doom3. The AI always knows where you are, they just
can't always do anything about it.

I play on whatever difficulty is right under nightmare.

Just tonite, I managed to hide behind a stairwell again. The AI continuously
shot right into the stairway without any attempt to adjust their
fire/position and I just lobbed grenades (which, once again, the AI ignored)
until I got the right trajectory.

Hell, Far Cry and even the ORIGINAL Half Life had better AI than this. It's
just kinda disgusting/disappointing.
