Hey,

I'm a noob when it comes to motherboards....recently I found that my Intel D865GBF CANNOT overclock. Therefore, I am now looking for a new motherboard that can OC my P4 2.4c, so that I do not have to upgrade my processor...at least yet. I am clueless when it comes to finding a particular motherboard that will suit my needs out of the endless list, so any help or direction would be much appreciated. I have looked at the MSI 865PE Neo2-PFS, and other contenders from Abit (IS-7?) and Asus that are within that price range, all of which are selling at a price about equal to what the D865GBF is worth at the moment. Should I look to spend more so that when I upgrade the processor, that is all I will have to do, or should i consider this more of a temporary fix because I will be overclocking? Are these even main things to consider? Basically, I do not know where to start. I just know that I want a stable and quick motherboard.

I'm telling you, the questions are endless :), anybody that decides to respond may get bombarded lol. But seriously, any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

I have and like the Gigabyte 8KNXP ultra boards for its features and stability, but DFI Lanparty is good also.

Asus p4c800-e baby all the way, asus makes the best boards, very easy to overclock or change any settings u want...I will buy asus boards till i die. 😛

I have a ASUS P4P800 Deluxe based off a 865pe "springfield" chipset. I am really very pleased with the board even though its a via chipset. It oced my 2.4c to a stable 2.9 on air.

Ahh, sorry about the slip. Ive had via on the brain, working on a comp that has that chipset that has been giving me fits.

As far as I know, the Abit IS7 is the best ocing and performing board for P4c chips. It is also reasonably priced.
If you want to spend more, the IC7-max3 has a pwm otes cooler, which is a great idea, if you want to oc.

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe is crap, junk, garbage, AND overpriced. The Abit IS7 is TWICE the board for HALF the price. Read my review of the P4C800-E Deluxe at Sysopt if you want to know why.
