What socket number is my pent. 2.8 processor in my 4600. 478 or lga 775 and
how could I determine this with out pulling it out.

It's a 478-pin P4. Don't pull it until you replace it or upgrade it.

That machine supports both a P4 533mhz or 800mhz cpu. F2 into BIOS at boot
and look under CPU information. It will tell you which you have.

should tell you under Motherboard - CPUID.
