The CU upgrade was the beginning of the end. I sold my Dark Jedi Knight on ebay and man it was worth it. CU killed it for us all who really cared. I had 4 accounts and man it imo was the best time of my life. I made huge friends from both sides. LONG LIVE BLOODFIN! aka bugfin!

down with WUMI. B@tch never got me --- BHs psh!

[citation][nom]littleleo[/nom]I'd love to see a MechWarrior MMO, you got a good story line, factions. You could customize your mechs. Get contracts for money, pvp action fighting in arenas. You have big events like the attack of the clans. I think it would be a blast. To bad MS killed off MW buy buying it. Bring back MechWarrior![/citation]

MS did the same with Fasa Corporation's Shadowrun IP. Potential for the best MMO ever in my humble opinion and they basterdized it into a lame FPS for the Xbox before shelving it as a lost cause. Such a waste.

SOE: Where MMO's go to die.

I wonder if Sony is even remotely capable of sustaining a modern MMO because to be quite frank, they have been a disaster for most of the MMO IP under their watch.

I have been a fan of the Star Wars universe since going to the first movie at age 13 in 1977. I started playing SWG at launch and happily put up with the quirky bugs. It also was rushed out unfinished which had its share of issues also...something that Bioware dosent want to do, hense the delay in TOR. I lived threw and put up with the CU...horrible as it was when released, it got better and was still alot of fun even with the changes. What killed it for me and most of the active players was the NGE. Smed was an idiot then and always will be.

I played SWG from 04' up until about 6 months ago. The game was at its best when the learning curve was at its highest margin. Every veteran that played SWG then, could easily describe a dumbing down of the game to cater to the WoW crowd.
These kids came in screaming "Balance" and that was the end of the fun. No more death penalties, no more elite crafting(still better than 95% of other MMO crafting systems to be honest) & everyone could be a Jedi all of a sudden in a time frame for which there should have only been a few.
Overall, I think it was a great game, even in the end.
The last year has been a fiasco with all the server transfers obliterating some servers and lagging the hell out of others making both unplayable. This game was fun without bleading edge graphical eye-candy and the SWGEMU team is making alot of effort to re-produce that game. I will be keeping an eye out for the official EMU release... someday.

The CU, the NGE, and the lack of any real content updates (i.e. moving the story along) is what killed SWG, not TOR.

TOR helping to kill SWG is a blessing and by all means I wish MORE GAMES helped kill it sooner. By all means when they chose the path of the CU then into the NGE.. the game was gone... they lost us all with warning.

THE writing on the wall was them paying us back that paid for the Jedi expansion.. Mustufar was where the game went... JTL was well done, (different team is why) but then alas... that NGE... which made SWG the butt of all jokes in the gaming world and winning all the bad MMO awards. I pretty much considered anyone that would pay for that product a moron myself. It's like the guy that rode the 3 legged horse because it was nice.. Overall TOR didnt kill SWG -- SWG KILLED SWG...
