What extra software (if any) do I need in order to take advantage of a 64-bit processor?

I heard that one has to get the new Win XP 64 or else the OS doesn't use the 32-bits. Does the same apply to my old games like morrowind? Will I not experience any extra benefit by going 64 bit?

I know these questions are kind of noobish but hey . . .

thanks

You'll need the XP x64 Edition to take advantage of a 64-bit processor, else you'll still be running at 32-bit. Older games were designed for the 32-bit system and won't take advantage of a 64-bit processor (I'm not sure if games can be patched to use 64-bit or have to be rewritten as such; I'm not a programmer.)

yeah just a 64bit os. Tho virus programs you need a 64bit one. 98% of my programs on 32bit works on 64 which is nice and all the games should work but run at 32bit
