I have my Windows and After Effects/Premiere Pro 2015 on a 1TB HDD and I've assigned the media cache to the 120GB SSD

Will there be any difference in the speed using the SSD

First I was using the media cache on the same HDD
I only edit 720p to 1080p clips

Yes, you can tell AE to use the SSD as cache space.
It will be "some" gain. But not huge.

Okay so keeping Windows and After Effects on the HDD is fine as long as I have the media cache assigned to the SSD?

Or should I move my Windows and After Effects to the SSD too ?

Would there be any difference in performance ?

Ideally, your OS and applications should be on the SSD.
However, given a 1TB current drive and a new 120GB SSD...that conversion is going to be a pain.
You can't move only those 2 pieces...Windows and AE.

That would almost certainly require a clean install of the OS and your applications on that small SSD.

Yes I know that my C drive is around 60GB including all the applications and I don't play games

Yes it's a pain but can I avoid this agonizing conversion and just assign the media cache to the SSD and expect improvement in performance over the HDD ?
