So I recently got the hard drive for my new PC and I think it's broken. I haven't tested it but when I picked it up, I noticed a faint sound, like sand, coming from the inside of it.

This isn't the exact same hard drive but this is almost identical to what it sounded like. I just need to know if I should return it.

Edit: I had an old broken hard drive made by the same people and opened it up. It had something in it like a small plastic case of black sand looking stuff, it also made the same sound as the other drive. I think it's good.

I'm not jerking it back and forth as much as turning it from right to left. I can't test it because it's just one of the parts I ordered for my PC and not everything has arrived. I'm sorry I didn't make that clear

Well if you contacted WD the 1st thing there gonna have you do is test it using there software, but you can't cause you I guess you don't have a working computer. Wait till you get all your pieces and then put it in or go find a friend and put it in his computer.
