I hope this is the correct thread for this question. Please notify me if this would belong in another thread. I have been searching for a few hours for a solution, but could find nothing on the matter.
A few months ago, i purchased a dell P2815Q monitor. I know about the 30hz refresh rate, as it is not a problem for my line of work. For 2 months, the monitor was used via dvi, with an hdmi adapter in conjunction with a gtx 560 ti. This card would not support the full resolution, but did manage to run it at 1080p at 60hz.
I recently upgraded to a gtx 970, using the native hdmi port (as display port does not work). Expecting this to be an easy upgrade, I installed the card, and fired up my computer. I was greeted by a crisp resolution of 4k@30hz. The moment i tried switching it to 1080p, the monitor was still at 30hz.
Nvidia control panel and windows both had it listed as 60hz, but looking at it, it seemed very laggy. I decided to use the UFO frame skipping test, and it showed my monitor skipping every other frame. Disappointed, I tried an option within the nvidia control panel that uses "interlaced" scanning. This ran at the expected refresh rate, but the every other line within the image was offset from the next, and flickered. Is there something wrong with the monitor, or is it the card? Or is there a possible setting within the monitor itself that I need to change? Any help is greatly appreciated
