Laptop model: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ARH05 running Windows 10.
I’m facing a frustrating issue with my laptop keyboard where several keys are "sticking" (not physically) and causing input problems. Here’s the full rundown:
Problem:
Keys S, F, D, J, K, L, the Windows key, and a couple of numpad keys are acting up.
When I press these keys, they either duplicate (e.g., typing "s" outputs "ss") or don’t register at all.
The Windows key sometimes "sticks" (not mechanically), causing other keypresses to trigger Windows shortcuts (e.g., pressing "D" triggers Win+D).
The issue is not physical – the keys feel normal, no stickiness or debris.
Problem occurs in all apps (Notepad, games, browsers, etc.).
What I’ve tried:
Haven’t tested in BIOS or Linux yet but can try if recommended.
Additional info:
The issue started During the game.
No liquid spills or physical damage to the laptop.
I suspect it’s not hardware since the on-screen keyboard works fine, but I’m not sure.
Has anyone seen this issue before, especially with Lenovo laptops? Could it be a keyboard controller issue, a firmware problem, or something else? Any suggestions for further troubleshooting (e.g., BIOS test, Linux boot, specific drivers) or potential fixes?
Thanks a lot for any help

What I’ve tried:
- Reinstalled Windows 10 completely – no change.
- Reset keyboard drivers in Device Manager (uninstalled and rebooted) – no effect.
- Disabled Sticky Keys in Windows settings – didn’t help.
- Tested with on-screen keyboard – works perfectly, no issues.
- Minimal cleaning: used a piece of paper to remove dust from the keyboard, but haven’t removed keys or deep-cleaned.
- Checked for overheating – CPU/GPU temps stay at 65-70°C under load, no issues.
Haven’t tested in BIOS or Linux yet but can try if recommended.
