Sony vaio won't power on please help

hi, i have a sony vaio laptop and it shut down on me and won't restart. the power button won't light up and the computer won't start. when i tried to plug it into a different outlet there was a little spark from the plug. there is still a light on the charger. i removed the battery a few times (last time for 2 hours) and when i put it back in i got a green light on the power button for 2 seconds then it goes off. no power-up noise. no screen. please help. thanks!!

try removing the battery and powering up using only the power supply.
