Sony Vegas preview lag ?

hi, when i watch the preview it is so laggy that its impossible to watch
my system specs are intel i5 / r9 270x/ 8gb gskill ram/ 1.5tb hhd

Use RAM preview, allocate 2-4 GB of RAM or as much as you can and it will stop. If it doesn't then it is most likely because your playback resolution is too high, or you run out of RAM meaning it will be forced to use what's called page file. When your computer does this, it can cause what you describe here, because a typical hard drive is at least 100 times slower than typical RAM.

it says i can only use 1gb of ram when i have 8gb ?

What helped me out was this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sopxQfiQtlo (at 0:50) (there is a little mistake you have to press Shift+B not D)
