Sony vgn-ar350e laptop memory

Hello,
I installed windows 7 home premium 64-bit then upgraded the memory from 2GB to 4GB but only shows 3GB usable. This is probably due to hardware using addresses in the 4th GB space. Can anything be done to get more memory available? Will it support 8GB of memory?

Can you be more specific about your system configuration?

See that your graphics card does not share that memory.
Also make sure it is a x64 supportive OS on x64processor.
