Sound gone after quitting skyrim

Hi,
I have an MSI 7950 gpu. Upon quitting skyrim my system sound is gone. If I go back into skyrim the sound is back. I am using the hdmi port on the back of the 7950. If I roll back my computer it works fine. I restart the computer and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

after quitting Skyrim, have you looked into Task Manager to see if the process is still running? It's possible it's hanging.

one would think so - it depends on how Windows interacts with the memory on the motherboard, and whether items are still left in memory

I never use Restart for that reason, you want the computer to forget everything it knows... you only get hat with a hard power down

I got a message on the tv saying that the audio signal was incompatible and that I should switch to PCM. I cant seem to get my sound to go to pcm. Its one of those stupid bose 2.1 systems, it hates dts sound, it wont play it. but its funny this only happens after quitting the game.
