I have a logitech z640 5.1 surround sound system. I haven't used it in forever. I usually always wear headphones.

I am probably going to sell it since I don't use it, but I want to make sure it works.

I hooked up all the cables properly, but only the front rear speaker and the subwoofer work?

The Jacks from the center speaker that go to the computer are - Green-Black-Orange

I only have onboard sound, so on the back it goes Pink, Green, Blue.

I have tried multiple combinations but nothing works.

I tried Stereo, Quadrophonic, and 5.1 but they are all the same. Nothing sounds difference, only 1 speaker and subwoofer.

The balance levels are fine.

I use Soundmax integrated audio.

Really?

Last time I used this was at least 5 years ago. I have never had an actual soundcard since like... 1998. Always onboard.

I am pretty sure my old, old computer only had 3 and all the speakers worked?

Really.

Unless you had an adapter of some kind, I'm not sure how. The green plug only feeds the front two speakers, and possibly the sub (although most of the time the sub and centre channel share the same jack).

maybe I am wrong it was so long ago.

So is there anyway to fix something like this? Do you need a soundcard, or is there like a USB adapter?

I mean I am going to be SELLING this now that I know it works.

But for the future.

Do most sound systems use USB now or still the 35mm jacks?

so my asus onboard is no go.

Do most new motherboards have 5.1? I mean this one is from around 2007. Surprised it can't do 5.1.

I would never buy a soundcard, since I use headphones 99% of the time.

Some do some don't. I wouldn't buy a new motherboard just to test those speakers.

lol no that's not what I was going to do.

I was just curious how many come with 5.1 surround sound.

I don't know anyone who has bought a soundcard in years. I mean nothing is wrong with onboard sound, my sounds amazing with my good quality headphones.

I probably won't buy speakers ever again. I rarely used these at all.
