Im about to migrate from my HDD to SSD Samsung Evo 120Gb but it says the source disk and target disk are the same (C drive) Should I go ahead and click start? or is there a way to change the target disk somehow?
When Data Migration shows both as C:, what its showing you is that the C: Partition is going to be copied onto the Target Disk and thats what it will look like.
When you do the actual migration, your computer will assign it a different letter, until you restart and tell your BIOS to boot to the SSD.
Yeah the source is correct and the target is my SSD but they both say C:.? I thoguht that was odd but I went ahead and tried cloning now It keeps failing at cloning coming up with an error
failed to retrieve source disk information 201109
Are you able to see your SSD in windows explorer? You may need to goto "Disk Management" and partition/format it, before trying to clone.
Did your SSD come with a quick start guide explaining this process?
I can see it in disk management but not in my computer
In disk managment i right clicked it and activitaed it
Yes the SSD came with some intructions but its just failing to clone
Could the sata data cable be in the wrong port? hmm

You need to right click on the drive in Disk Management,
-To create a new partition, right-click on the Unallocated space on the Basic disk where you want to create the partition, and then click New Partition.
-Click Primary partition.
-Specify the size (I would use the default/max available).
-Choose a drive letter (or let windows manage this).
To format:
-Right click the newly created partition, Format
-I would suggest NTFS instead of FAT/FAT32.
You should now be able to clone your HDD on your new SSD.

hey did you ever figure this out? im having the same issue with no luck doing anything
I dont quite remember about this but I know it was easy once I gave up on migrating the data. I ended up just installing my OS onto the SSD from scratch and setting the boot priority in bios.
If it helps you the last answer here from Palorim12 sounds correct.
