I started noticing this weird scar/discoloration on my monitor. I'm not sure how long its been there, but it definitely wasn't there when I bought the monitor. It appears much more clearly under certain colors than others.

heres a few pictures on different colors:

so in these pictures it shows pretty clearly on the gray, baby blue, and purple screens, but isn't visible on the blue screen.
Anyone know what the defect is and how it may have been caused?

to anyone that was curious, apparently its a rare defect called yogore or mura.
"A Japanese term for "unevenness." This term is used to describe a low contrast, irregular pattern or region that causes uneven screen uniformity under certain conditions. This is a result of the deterioration of the LC (liquid crystal) alignment layer; most commonly caused by long term operation under high ambient temperatures. It is an industry wide phenomenon and mura is not repairable." -via Chris M of Dell
