What is the amount of data that´s got to be downloded for
Windows SP2 service update!

My computer har been working on it since September 25:th,
and has just reached "50% completed". I´m started to get
worried.

I do have a slow connection - 52Kb, dial up - and I might
not have been connected for more than on the average 30
min a day.

Still it would be nice to know what volume of data to
expect.

You can order the cd for free (no postage either) from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

It will take one or two weeks.

I believe one of the big box stores, Staples or OfficeMax
had them available for free also.

I think it may be Office Depot.

It depends on how many critical updates you already have installed. If
you were update on SP1 the d/l could be around 80MB but if you have a
non patched system you could be looking at 200MB or more.

With a slow connection have you considered picking up a copy of SP2 on
CD? They are free from MS or many computer shops and Office Supply
Stores are giving them away.

Hi

Depandent on what you have installed now, the download could anything
between 80 & 120 MBs. The following article may help you:

"The hard disk space requirements for Windows XP Service Pack 2"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;837783

The SP2 file is also downloadable, however that is 266 MBs and would take a
long time with a dial-up connection:
