I'm looking to get a new case that has a bit more room in it. My current case - Cougar MX330 is nice, but with a huge graphics card, it kinda bulges on the side with the acrylic panel. Something that would be around 10 inches wide would be perfect. I would love to have the Corsair Air 540 but at over 13 inches wide, it is too large for the opening in my desk.

What is the model of your graphics card?

Since that case only supports CPU coolers up to 155mm high, yes, it is rather narrow. I'm not sure why you would have issues with the card hitting the side panel though. There should be plenty of room for ANY height graphics card in a case that can support a 155mm graphics card. It shouldn't be coming anywhere near the side panel.

Unlike other hardware where capability is usually the primary consideration, cases are largely down to "can I stand to look at this day after day" and "will all my crap fit". If the answer to both of those is yes, then I'd say based on the reviews that both of them are pretty decent. I think there are better choices for the price that offer some features not found on either of those cougar cases such as somewhat more extensive pass through grommets and cable management features, both seem very heavy as well so moving them around or working in them might be less than convenient and neither of them comes with PWM fans, which I tend to prefer over DC controlled 3 pin fans.

Also, both only support CPU coolers up to 160mm, which means they are only 5mm wider than the case you have. If you think an extra 5mm is going to give you the additional clearance you need, then great, but that's less than a quarter of an inch so if not you might want to keep looking.

Thank you for bringing those concerns to my attention. What would you suggest?

I honestly don't care about how looks. I don't even need the invisible side panels. Just something that works, can be easily vented, and has plenty of space to work in for my clumsy, hurting hands.

my clumsy, hurting hands.

I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. The reason it made me laugh is because most modern cases are SO easy to work in, compared to the VERY tight cases we used to work inside back in the day. Old style OEM prebuilt systems and desktop cases where everything was packed in there without an inch to spare, plus cases never had finished or rolled edges like these days, they were always super sharp. I used to have hamburger hands for the longest time from constantly shredding them inside one case or another. Also, having to contort and fit them into places they really don't want to go. So I understand what you mean, I think.

Honestly, the Focus G, if you just want something basic with enough room to fit your hardware, that still looks halfway decent and has very good airflow (With the proper fans installed, which you could simply transfer from your current case to add to what this case comes with), then you might just want to look at the Focus G. This is our basic go-to case for budget builders that still want something with good features and airflow.

It also supports CPU coolers up to 165mm tall, so there should be plenty of room to accommodate the power connectors on your graphics card.

Yes, that is totally understandable. How big is your "hole" that the tower has to fit into. Maybe a full tower case would be a better option because there is certainly a lot more room to work inside them, plus they offer a lot of room for expansion of drives and cooling.

Yes, the Fractal Website will be more accurate than Amazon. I like going to Newegg for specs. They are usually spot on and sometimes show specs there that aren't even available from the actual manufacturer product page. Doesn't mean I buy from there, usually, but for specs, it's pretty spot on.

Welp... we have a working PC! Everything but the ODD works. I'm not too concerned about that.

Thanks for all your help, though I do have to say that out of the 3 cases I've worked with, the R6 has been the most difficult and time consuming. I love the thumb screws, but none of the holes line up right, so I had to use a screw driver anyway.

If my old Cougar Solution was large enough to house my GPU, I'd would've never considered another case. You could almost describe it as plug-and-play.

Cool man. Glad it worked out even if it was something of a pain. Having worked with Fractal cases quite a lot, I don't agree. I think they are exceptionally well built and easy to work with, but obviously I don't have carpal tunnel making it hard on me and there is always the chance of getting a unit which was poorly machined from any manufacturer so I can't say that wasn't a possibility either. Regardless, so long as all is good now, glad to hear it.
