Too much hype and secret secrets can backfire into too much anticipationa and when the card gets released -- too much disappointment for the high prices and not enough performance.

I hope ATI trumps them and lowers the prices of their 5800 and 5900 series videocards on the day Fermi is released.

Looking good :)

This is what it's like at AMD/ATI
-The tech: I can't wait for some bench so I can crush it with 59xx 😛

If I'm counting the mem on the PCB correctly, it looks like the GTX 470 will have a 320 bit GDDR5 memory interface, in comparison to the GTX 480's 384 bit interface.

Is that card and the one in the pic in this article supposed to be the same thing? Cause the layouts are not the same at all, even the cut outs are in different places.

Wondering what's the performance compared to ATI...
When will I be able to get one of these...
With all the good stuffs, Lian-li, Core i7, SSD, my next system is already $4k+! It might only be a dream after all...

I guess its to hard for people to remember that because of nda's. There are NEVER any card tests/benchies before 'official' card release~ same thing occurred with ATI's flicker 5 series cards. If people knew all the problems like grey screening , vertical striping and flickering nobody would ever buy.

Great images! following up on my previous comment, based on the assumption that the GTX 480 will carry 1536 MB of GDDR5, and that the mem density will be the same on the 480 & 470, it looks like the GTX 470 will be packing 1280 MB of GDDR5 in a 320 bit interface. This is of course based entirely on the images provided.

ok so if there is only really [and pathetically] a 5% improvement over the hd 5870, then nvidia will put out the gtx480 for $450 and up, advertising physx and 3d gaming thinking it'll be enough reason to mark it up.. and they'll probably throw in a free game as well.

also, if it is only a 5% improvement, the hd 5890 should easily rain on their parade and drop prices quickly.. ati/amd will also probably announce it within a week or two after nvidia's cards are released to keep customers on their side.. competition for the win

Show us the entire card or this is just not believable. I cannot be "awed" until I see this thing from every angle and comparison to size it against.

Benchies help with the "awe" too.

lol... where are you getting those figures from, your own 'educated' estimations? Or was it from an editorial on semiacccurate? Given the performance numbers I've seen from relatively accurate sources, the GTX 470 falls closer in line with the performance of the HD5870 then does the 480. Pre order pricing seems to confirm these estimates.
