can imagine what it looked like; "N-o-o-o-body!!"; but nope, just him
and his kid in the commercials. I'm still ticked at him for calling the
army in when we got a "little snowstorm" a few years back.

ya missed the fun here; it was 5 days straight of 35-40 (wondered if I
had woke up in the right country), then the (muchly appreciated) rain
came for a few days... we're just getting out of that trough.

I wouldn't mind some cooling rain here at the moment. It's nearly 1a.m.
here in London and the temp here is still a bit over 30C and that's with a
fan going flat out behind me. Wouldn't be so bad it the humidity were a
bit lower or if instead I was beside a pool in the Aegean with a cool
glass in my hand. 🙂

Kids' wading pools are pretty cheap (for the time being we'll ignore my
"Nestea Plunge" demo which resulted in smacking my head on the bottom
of... well, anyways)... even a bucket with cold water can help draw off
excess heat.

I think a trip to Torremolinos is in order at the moment for you!! Care to
spring for my airfare as well?? (G)

Still cold here......sweatshirts and jeans. About 60F.......wot's that in

Unfortunately like Moses' supposition, it's erroneous. It should be "Mars
Bars are made *in* about 20 minutes from my house". Except that gingerbread
is nearer the mark.

Hokay......Mars Bars are made in a factory in Bolton, Ontario by the Effem
Company.....which is about 20 minutes as the crow flies from Brampton.

Wonder who "FM" was. Haven't got a Mars bar handy to check. But I did
phone them a couple of months ago to complain of dried out ones and got
coupons for 6 freebies.....want me to send you some? Nah, I ate them.

At least we all have fans these days, eh Mike? We're up to speed on that one

Trouble is with our variable weather I always forget about having a fan
until a couple of days if not more into the hot stuff. This year I
remembered but I remember last year one of the girls coming round and
asking me why I wasn't using it.

There was/is a Mars Bar factory about a mile from where I was born, in
Slough (The Slough of Despond! - 'Come friendly bombs...')
Fun place - with the wind in one direction we got the smell of vanilla from
the factory... with the wind in the opposite direction, we got the smell of
the infamous Cippenham Sewage Works!

I'll never forget. I was working in a big office block a few years ago
during a heatwave and remember the frantic - and nationwide - scramble for
the pitifully-few fans in the shops. You could have got rich selling them
and I daresay some did! At a pinch I could jump on the bike and take a blast
around the ring road, but most of the 300 in the building were prisoners.
Funny thing was the department responsible for site services had air
conditioning like walking into a cold store!

Cold? Or 15C if you prefer. 🙂

It's dropped to a more pleasant 80F/27C here at the moment but with 75%
humidity so it's still not as nice as it might be.

I think it's rather them wearing company policy on their sleeve.

The company's called FourSquare here, btw.

Don't remind me! I remember a time in the mid sixties when you needed a
peg on your nose to drive along that part of the M4. If it wasn't the
pong it was the sweet and sickly scent they were using to try and hide the
smell.

<lol> I remember that, we're OK here, I have one of those floor standing
ones that swivel round, that's in the office though.

I think that living on the coast makes a difference here though.

OTOH, most houses here (mine included) have central air conditioning and we
keep it at about 75F. Believe it is going back up over 30C in a couple of
days. I am SO GLAD it didn't hit those temps when we were in London. I
melt in that type of heat.

Odd.....no mention of airfare to Torremolinos....sigh!!

At the moment I think springing the fair for a day trip to Brighton (about
60 miles by rail) might be pushing things a bit let alone a trip to a nice
quite village I know in Rhodes. Sorry but I don't fancy Torremolinos,
found it too commercialised 35 years ago so dread to think what it's like
now. 🙂

BTW the cash shortage is in part due to being about to spring for a new

You can see a review at PCPro

criteria included weight <1.8Kh (say 4lb), decent battery life, built in

cheap. Can't think for the life of me why "I" need this but ......

Well!! I guess *boys and their toys* takes precedence over me going to
Spain, grin!!

Sounds good. I am seriously thinking of getting in line with the rest of
you and getting a new computer. Built by Willy, of course. I still haven't
phoned MDG (Mad Dog someone called them) and blasted them......won't get me
anywhere other than perhaps a reduced price on one of their new
machines....but I don't trust them anymore, sigh.

Funny how you should say that Noel.

Many of the critical requirements were stipulated by the girls, especially
weight (<1.7Kg) but also a Compact Flash card reader (my Nikon digicam)
and Secure Digital card reader (still photos and quicktime movies from
Bec's Canon MVX25I camcorder), firewire (camcorder), etc. DVD writer
(camcorder), etc. etc. My main requirement being to be left in peace.
