I don't usually do this but I've been out of touch with storage and drive technologies for a little while but I'd now like to update my desktop while SSD storage is relatively cheap. I'd usually do all my own research but this time I'm short of time so looking for suggestions:

I have an Alienware Aurora R7.

- My primary drive is a 1TB NVMe Samsung SSD 970.
- My secondary drive is a 1TB SATA Western Digital WD1001

I'm looking to add an additional SSD drive of highest capacity and speed that will be used for video editing and storage of media. I would also be open to upgrading my primary HDD but only if there is something significantly better that I will actually notice a difference with.

In terms of the R7 slots I can't open the desktop at the moment but here is the information:

Am I correct in understanding I need a SSD that meets these specs because the U.2 slot is already in use by primary drive?

One M.2 2280 solid-state driveSATA AHCI 6 GbpsUp to 2 TB

If so what SSD drives would you recommend that meets this criteria?

Thanks in advace.

Your motherboard doesn't have an U.2 slots on the motherboard;

However you do have an M.2 slot.

If you want to replace the HDD in your system, you have access to pretty much any 2.5" SATA based SSD on the shelf. Samsung's 870 Evo will be a good HDD replacement.

If so what SSD drives would you recommend that meets this criteria?
Where are you located, what is your preferred site for purchase and how much have you allocated for your SSD purchase?

While you wait for suggestions from the community, I'd advise that you make sure your prebuilt is on the latest BIOS update.
