SSD as boot drive: Question about Newegg deal

Hey guys,

I wasn't originally planning on including an SSD as a boot drive for my new computer build, but newegg has this deal running right now:

I noticed that the SSD is SATA II, but 96GB seems a pretty good deal for just over $100 after rebates. My build is going to be SATA III compatible. Any insight as to whether this drive is a good deal or is there something else I shoud consider? One that did catch my eye was the OCZ Agility 3 60GB, it's SATA III but smaller as far as capacity goes. About the same price after rebates:

I got mine last month when newegg had it on sale for $99.99 after mir and free shipping.

For individuals who think in terms of price per Gigabyte it is a bargain price - just a little over $1.00 per GB. Typical sale prices are around $1.50 per GB.

The Kingston SSDNow V+100 was orginally thought of as an entry level ssd. Several technical reviews have upgraded it to a mid-level ssd.

Since you are going to build a new system with SATA 6Gb/s capabilities I'd recommend getting a SATA 6Gb/s ssd. What is you price range or budget?

Crucial makes good SSDs, but their low capacity drives have crappy write speeds. However, this shouldn't be an issue for a small boot drive as most of your writing will probably be to a larger hard drive.

Since Windows 7 supports TRIM, I think I'd skip the Kingston even at a steep discount and either just go with a fast HD or spend a little more and get a faster SSD. I've had it about a month and am neither thrilled nor unhappy with the 96GB Kingston. The benchmarks that show basically mediocre random read/write performance are borne out in real life - for most uses, it's a lot faster, but not lightning fast. I'm using Vista so the "always-on" internal garbage collection was important for me, but that's irrelevant to you. Fwiw, the drive does support TRIM, but I don't know how it interacts with the internal GC. The drive simply doesn't support NCQ at all.

And my old case, Power supply and PNY Quadro NVS 440 graphics card which is mostly a 2D graphics workstation financial trading card. I'm not a gamer.

Thanks for all of the responses guys; I've decided to hold off on the SSD for right now... had a few sudden expenditures come up with school and the computer build is being trimmed down accordingly... it's still happening though, thankfully!
