I have another HDD with win 7 installed on it that I cannot install on a new disc, so my plan is to clone that HDD to the SSD and remove win 10 that is on my SSD (different licenses, both drives are used on the same computer).

if that program was not on my HDD, I would just boot with my win 7 flash drive.

should i quick format my SSD before cloning the HDD, or do a full format? I heard somewhere that it is bad to format a SSD. There is really nothing on the SSD besides windows 10 and maybe 4-5 other programs.

Solution
It's only 'bad' to format an SSD if you do it like every other day.
Once in a while is fine.

But for your use, a quick format is fine.
If you were selling the drive, then more intrusive methods would be needed.
You can do quick or full, many says that full format is harmful to SDD. But seriously, if you are in doubt why not call the manufacturer to confirm if it's bad or not. I already used Full format for my SDD but it is still working fine.
